47 YEARS AND COUNTING . . .

Trinity Assembly of God began as the result of about 5 families who came together to pray for a move of God in their community in 1976. They believed together that God would send a pastor to this small group of people so that they could start a new work together. One that would grow into a church body that could make a difference in their community.

At that time God had already been working on the heart of a former drug addict, by the name of Mark House, who had recently resigned as Director of Teen Challenge in Muskegon, MI, to plant a new church as an outreach of the First Assembly of God church in New Albany, Indiana. Those 5 families met with Pastor Mark House for the first time in April of 1977.

The first service was held at the Old Capital Bank & Trust Company in the Old Capital Plaza. The church moved from location to location and grew from just a handful of people to about 65 people, when they purchased the Corydon Baptist Church on North Capitol Street. Seven years later a 5-acre lot was purchased at the corner of State Highway 135 and Shiloh Road SW and this is where the church sits today. No matter the location or the building, the mission is the same. God is still using the beautiful families of Trinity Assembly of God to make disciples of all nations through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout it's 46 year history, the church has been shepherded and lead by some phenomenal men and women of God:
  • Lead Pastors - Mark House (1977-1979), Don Thompson (1979-1981), Gregg Sims (1981-1989), Paul Greer (1989-2020), Steve Terry (2020-present)
  • Assistant and/or Worship Pastors - Geoff Atkinson, John Stone, Dave Ledger, Joe Hunter, Jason Sharpe, Thadd Wilson, Tess Brunmeier, Chris Rogers, Darren & ReBecca Carey, Gene & Stevi Stambaugh, Megan Carter, and Ben Napper.
  • Youth Pastors - Tom McCullum, Frank Audia, Russ Benson, Mark Kernen, Matt Hoole, Darren Carey, Gene Stambaugh, Matt Phillips, and Adam & Brandie Wise
  • Children's Pastors - Gene & Stevi Stambaugh, Teresa Manship, and Shannon Burke

After faithfully serving the Lord for 31 years, Pastor Paul Greer retired on July 31, 2020. The church began the search for a new lead pastor and on Sunday October 4th, after narrowing down the list of candidates and resumes to one, the church membership unanimously elected Pastor Steve Terry, formally of Bedford First Assembly of God, as the new lead pastor of Trinity Assembly of God.
